Mission Statement
Our mission is to help restore peace and well-being to Northeast Central Durham, reversing blight one block at a time by creating beautiful, usable common spaces that foster community, and by supporting the creation of decent, affordable housing. In support of this mission, Jubilee Restoration Project will do the following:
-
Acquire and transform empty, trashy lots into pleasant common spaces, such as small playgrounds, public gathering areas for the neighborhood, and community gardens.
-
Work in partnership with other community development organizations to provide affordable housing by rehabilitating vacant, boarded-up houses, and by building new homes on vacant lots.
-
Educate church congregations and other groups regarding unjust conditions affecting Northeast Central Durham, and invite them to participate in working for justice in our focus area and elsewhere.
Vision Statement
We envision the transformation of the neighborhoods of Northeast Central Durham, into beautiful, environmentally friendly places where neighbors can gather and children can play safely outdoors, where any person can afford to live, where all houses are occupied and well-maintained, and where small local businesses thrive.
